DOVER- Robert H. Utley, 81, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014 at his residence. He was the husband of JoAnn E. (McClelland) Utley. The couple would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on December 29, 2014. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is in charge of arrangements. Inurnment will be in Warren, Pennsylvania at a later date. Born August 2, 1932 in Warren, Pennsylvania, Robert was a son of the late Harold Paul and Alice Marie (Olskey) Utley. He worked for 38 years as a utility operator at Osram Sylvania Inc. until his retirement in 1992. Mr. Utley served our country during the Korean War as a member of the United States Army. Mr. Utley was a member of St. David’s Evangelical Congregational Church in Dover. He was also a member of the Masons, White Rose Lodge #706, the Shiloh American Legion Post 791, the Viking Athletic Association, the Sylvania 25 Year Club and the Mall Walkers of York. Robert was also well known as Leftie, a Tall Cedars clown. In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by two sons, Robert Utley Jr. of Spring Grove and Timothy Utley and his wife Susan of Shiloh; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and a brother, Raymond Utley of Clarendon, Pennsylvania. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Anne Hauck and two sisters, Georgia Goodwill and Esther Swanson. Memorial contributions may be made to White Rose Hospice, 1412 6th Avenue, York, PA 17403.
