Robert H. Smith

York—Robert H. Smith, 83, died Monday, February 1, 2016 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Elaine A. (Clinch) Smith to whom he was married for 58 years. A Viewing will be held from 1-3 PM, Friday, February 5, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Born July 28, 1932 in York, he was a son of the late Robert A. and Esther E. (Lightner) Smith. He was employed with Weldon Machine Tool, Inc for 50 years as a welder/fabricator until his retirement in 1993. A United States Navy Veteran of the Korean War, he was also a member of the W. York V.F.W-Post 8951, American Legion and St. Joseph Catholic Church in York. He loved spending time hunting and fishing with his son, Michael and was an avid collector of fishing lures. In addition to his wife, Mr. Smith is also survived by one daughter, Stephanie A. Meyer of Manheim; two grandchildren, Heather A. Neff and her husband, Cory of Strasburg, VA and Ryan Cruz of Manheim; two great grandchildren, Robert F. and Jacob A. Neff; two sisters, Dolores Smith and her husband, Richard of York and Brenda Barkdoll and her husband, David of York and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael R. Smith.
