Robert H. Rutland

YORK-Robert H. Rutland, 93, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015 at his daughter’s residence in Littlestown. He was the husband of the late Emily (Roberts) Rutland. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a viewing from 9-10 a.m. Full military honors will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard at the start of the service. His son-in-law, Pastor Larry Douthwaite will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in York. Mr. Rutland was born in York on October 8, 1921, the son of Hedley and Blanche (Nickey) Rutland. He retired as a partner in Apollo Ad Service and Custom Bilt Machinery. Mr. Rutland attended York Bible Church. He was a 1939 graduate of West York High School and a 1947 graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. He enjoyed woodworking. He served in the US Navy during WWII. Mr. Rutland leaves two sons, Steve Rutland and his wife Connie of York and Michael Rutland and his wife Carla of Dover; a daughter, Sharon Douthwaite and her husband Larry of Littlestown; six grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
