Robert H. May

DOVER- Robert H. May, 92, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at Providence Place in Dover. He was the husband of the late Julia N. (Gingerich) May. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 947 N. George Street in York, with a viewing from noon-1p.m. His pastor, The Reverend Beth A. Schlegel will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in York. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. May was born in Dover on March 24, 1925, the son of the late Claude E. and Mary C. (Baker) May. He retired from Kottcamp Sheet Metal, Inc. in York where he was a sheet metal worker. Mr. May was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in York, Outdoor Country Club, Viking Athletic Association, and Springettsbury Lions Club. Mr. May leaves two daughters, Joanne L. May and her husband David W. Lensch of York and Jane E. Ballerstein of Manchester; two grandchildren, Erika Shelly and Ryan Ballerstein; three great grandchildren, Peyton, Parker, and Tommy; and a sister, Grace Shearer of Pittsburgh. A brother, Donald C. May, preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 947 N. George Street, York, PA 17404 or a favorite charity.
