KINGSTON-Robert G. Clark, 80, of North Gates Ave., Kingston, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2007, at his home. Born in Wilkes-Barre on December 4, 1926, he was a son of the late Hayes and Eleanor (Schwab) Clark. He was a 1944 graduate of Meyers High School. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, having served on the USS Kaweah-AD15 and the USS Zircon-PY16. Mr. Clark was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where he was an elder, a greeter and an usher. He served on the Evangelism Committee and the Fellowship Committee. He was also a member of the Men's Bible Study and the Apple Gatherer's Bible Study. He represented the church at the Presbytery of Lackawanna. He was a member of American Legion Post 395, Kingston. He was a former volunteer at the Hospice Center of the VA Medical Center for 500 hours and delivered for Meals on Wheels. He was owner and operator of the former Wilkes-Barre Meat Market on North Main Street which closed due to re-development. He then went to work for the Orange Grove Market, Pierce Street, Kingston, until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marion Sauer and brothers Hayes "Buddy" Clark, Jr., Harry Clark and William Clark. Surviving is his wife of 57 years, the former Frances (Zakar) Zakarauskas; brother, Leonard Clark of York; sister, Lois Knorr of Wilkes-Barre; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. in Westminster Presbyterian Church, Hanover Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend Micki Robinson will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Endowment Fund of Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2 Lockhart Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA or to Heartland Hospice, 38 North Main Street, Pittston, PA.
