YORK – Robert F. Rook, Jr., 78 passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011 at his residence. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Pastor Lonnie Skiles officiating. A visitation will be held from 6-7:00 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Private entombment will be in the Keystone Mausoleum at Mt. Rose Cemetery. Born May 16, 1933 in Waynesboro, PA a son of the late Beula and Robert F. Rook, Sr., he grew up in Waynesboro and has spent 65 years in York. Robert was an accomplished bluegrass banjo and fiddle player. He went by the stage name of “Bobby Diamond” and he has performed across the country, most notably at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville with many notables including Del McCoury, Red Allen, Bill Monroe, and Earl Scruggs. Mr. Rook also worked many years as a manager and truck driver for Billet Amusements. He was a US Navy veteran. In addition to his Billet Amusements family, Mr. Rook’s family included brothers, Charlie, Ronald, and Billy Rook; and sisters, Shirley and Donna.
