YORK--Robert F. Danley, 89, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 at UPMC—Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Elaine (Lawrence) Danley to whom he was married for 70 years. Born October 23, 1931 in York, Robert was the son of the late Robert and Geneeda (Myers) Danley. Robert served in the United States Navy on the USS Midway during the Korean War. He owned and operated Bob’s Barber Shop in North York. He retired from Rutter’s Family Restaurants as an operations manager in 1994. While working for Rutters, he served on the board and was president of the Southern Restaurant Association. He was also “Volunteer of the Year” for the March of Dimes. After retirement, he and Elaine moved to the shore where he was a reserve police officer in Ocean City, MD. In addition to his wife, Mr. Danley is also survived by his daughter, Kimberly Danley of Red Lion; his granddaughters, Amanda Fernsler and Kayla Ruppert and her husband, Jonathan; two great granddaughters, Chloe and Annabelle. He also leaves behind one sister, Marlene Stephens; one brother, Donald Danley and his wife, Sandra; and many nieces and nephews. Family was the center of Bob’s life. He enjoyed all kinds of sports and followed MSNBC. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10AM Thursday, May 27, 2021 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 161 N. Main Street, Red Lion. Officiating the service will be his pastor, the Rev. David D. Tietje. A viewing will be held from 9-10AM Thursday, at the church. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. All current Covid-19 mask guidelines will be followed. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s name to St. John’s United Church of Christ, 161 N. Main Street, Red Lion, Pa 17356.
