RENOVO - Robert E. "Slum" Summerson, 83, died at Geisinger Medical Center on Friday, June 4, 2010. He was born in Renovo on February 18, 1927, son of the late Mabel Summerson. Slum was a graduate of Renovo High School, co-owned the S & T Chevrolet dealership, and also worked at K & L auto. He was a life member of the Elks, a member of the Sons of Italy, A.A. R.P., and was a licensed Notary Public. He served as a Renovo Boro Councilman, coached youth basketball at St. Joseph School for many years, loved fishing, and was an avid Penn State Football fan who held season tickets for over 40 years. Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Conchetta "Connie" Summerson in 2008. He is survived by his son: Dale (Laura) Summerson of Elkridge, Md, and his granddaughter: Brittany. Memorial services will be held at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., Renovo on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorials are requested to Bucktail Medical Center.
