Robert E. Grove

YORK Robert E. Grove, 70 of West Manchester Twp. died at 8:04 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2015 at his home. He was the husband of Rhonda K. (Crone) Grove with whom he celebrated a 30th wedding anniversary on April 13th. Following cremation, a Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with a balloon release ceremony immediately following the service. Officiating will be the Rev. Keith J. Berkheiser, II, pastor of Stonybrook Bible Church, York. A visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Mr. Grove was born July 30, 1944, in York. He was the son of the late Ervin and Arlene (Grimm) Grove. Bob retired as a Union Committeeman and machine operator at Caterpillar Tractor after 30 years of service and more recently worked at Bowler’s Supply. An avid bowler, he was a member of multiple leagues since 1970 winning numerous awards and bowled 10 perfect games. Bob also enjoyed hunting with his son, Brian and his grandson, Mason. He played softball for many years and was a member of the Bob Hoffman Hall of Fame. He was a member of the 1983 Class A State Championship Team and was voted MVP in a tournament in Tennessee. He attended the LCBC Church, Manheim. Along with his wife, Bob was an active volunteer, especially with Veterans groups, and was a member of the Veterans Service Committee at the BPO Elks Lodge #213. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his son, Brain A. and Joan Grove of York; three grandchildren, Lindsey, Jessica and Mason; two great grandchildren, Braylan and Makiya; a sister, Rosalie M. and Irvin Deveney of York; his step mother, Doris Grove of Glen Rock; a step sister, Kim and Shawn McCourry of Hanover; a step brother, Richard Sotdorus of Glen Rock; two brothers-in-law, Wade and Beth Crone and family and Kevin and Debbie Crone and family; three very special friends, George Rodgers, Dale Jolley and Donna Brown among so many more; and his two, four legged best friends, Packer and Baretta. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son, Trent A. Grove on December 31, 2007; and three brothers, Terry, Donnie and Ricky Grove.
