Robert E. Gladney

YORK- Robert E. Gladney, 87, died on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Normandie Ridge. He was the companion of Mary Lou (Bosserman) Inners for 36 years.

A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Pastor Todd Witmer officiating. A viewing will be from 6-7 p.m. prior to the service. A graveside service will be private at Greenmount Cemetery.

Born on January 26, 1936 in Absecon, NJ, he was a son of the late Robert E. Gladney and the late Beatrice Daisy (Eastlack) Clay. He graduated from Gettysburg College with a degree in History. Robert worked for W.T. Grant, McCrory’s Distribution Center and was a rental property owner.

Mr. Gladney enjoyed traveling, camping, cruises and bus trips with Mary Lou. He was also an avid reader and loved history, theater and arts. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Along with his companion, Mary Lou, Robert is survived by his two daughters, Beth Ruppert and her husband, Michael of Dover and Christina Hoke and her husband, Brian of East York; two step sons, Daniel Inners and his wife, Connie of York and Brian Inners and his wife, Tracey of Dover; five grandchildren, Jessica Nusbaum, Lexy Nusbaum, Ashley Dror, Brittany Fuller and Darren Fuller; six great grandchildren; brother, Richard Gladney of DeLand, FL; sister, Barbara Speliotes and her husband, Anthony of DeLand, FL; and son in law, Richard Nusbaum of Wrightsville. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Nusbaum who died in 2014.
