Dallastown—Robert E. “Bim” Frey, Sr., died Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Victorian Villa in Dallastown Borough. He was the husband of the late Vada I. (Riedel) Frey with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 109 E. Main Street, Dallastown with his pastor, the Rev. Roger Mentzer, officiating. Burial ceremony will be held in Dallastown Union Cemetery with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born November 26, 1926 in Red Lion, he was a son of the late Lawrence E. and Beulah R. (Stein) Frey. He was a 1943 graduate of Red Lion High School. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during World War II. He was employed with Cole Steel for 38 years, retiring in 1987 as Production Inventory Control Manager. Shortly after his retirement from Cole Steel, he began working with AAA Corp as a Travel Courier and just recently retired in 2013 after 25 years of service. This loving and devoted family man was quick witted, funny and a dancer extraordinaire. He was a long time resident of Dallastown and recently resided at Victorian Villa. A lifetime sports enthusiast, he played baseball and basketball as well as tennis, golf and bowling. An active member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Dallastown, he also participated in dramas, loved musical theater and still listened to big band music. Mr. Frey is survived by one son, Robert E. Frey, Jr and his wife, Rebecca of Harrisburg; one daughter, Dawn E. Frey and her partner, Deborah Hershey of Emmaus; three grandchildren, Emily Nixon and her husband, Jonathan; Jacob Frey and his wife, Lori Beth; Abigail Figueroa and her husband, Mark; four great grandchildren, Natalie, Gavin, Annabelle and Henry; one brother, Palmer Frey; two sisters, Janet Warner and Ruth Uffelman and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark E. Frey. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.
