DALLASTOWN - Robert E. Ahrens, 86, died Monday, June 6, 2011 at Manor Care Health Services in Dallastown. He was the husband of Mary (McLane) Ahrens. The couple celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on April 12, 2011. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2011 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, with a visitation from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Full military honors will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard at the start of the service. Mr. Ahrens was born in Lower Chanceford Township on June 23, 1924, a son of the late Edward and Ozella H. (Alloway) Ahrens. He retired from Yorktowne Kitchens in Red Lion. Mr. Ahrens was a member of the Izaak Walton League of America and National Rifle Association. He served in the European Theatre in WWII in the US Army. Mr. Ahrens leaves a son, Edward Ahrens and his wife, Carole of Glenville; two grandchildren, Allison Kleinfelter and her husband, Brad and Emily Ahrens; a great grandson, Benjamin Kleinfelter; a sister, Betty Barshinger and her husband, Blair of Red Lion; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Ahrens. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
