WINDSOR- Robert D. Rupprecht, 83, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Betty L. (Hartman) Rupprecht with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. A memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday May 9, 2009 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 2185 Windsor Road, with his pastor the Rev. Harold officiating. A gathering will be held at the church immediately following the service. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Rupprecht was born on October 22, 1925 in York to the late John E. and Helen R. (Seitz) Rupprecht. He graduated in 1943 from the Industrial Program at William Penn High School in York. Mr. Rupprecht retired from the U.S. Navy Ships Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg and was a Navy Veteran. Mr. Rupprecht was a longtime member at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, serving as a member of the church Administrative Board and Treasurer and was a member of O.F.F. (Over 55 Fellowship Group). He was an officer of the Windsor Cemetery Association and a member of the Lion's Club in Windsor. He exercised with friends at the Country Meadows Retirement Community exercise facility. In earlier years Mr. Rupprecht enjoyed softball, playing on several York County church softball teams, as well as table tennis and bowling. He was an avid golfer who played regularly until in his 70's. As a young man he played the drums and was a fan of big band music throughout his life. Surviving is a son, Jeffrey D. and his wife Laurel of Bethany Beach, DE; he was a loving grandfather to Jill Rupprecht of Washington, DC and Dana Rupprecht of Arlington, VA. Also surviving are a sister, Shirley Botts of Shiloh, a niece, Julie Koble, and a nephew Michael Rupprecht. He is preceded in death by a brother, John E. Rupprecht; and two sisters who died in infancy. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to the Emmanuel United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 2185 Windsor Road, Windsor, PA 17366.
