RENOVO - Robert D. “Bob” Poorman Sr., age 84, died at Bucktail Medical Center on Thursday, January 26, 2012. He was born in Renovo on January 6, 1928, a son of the late John M. and Margaret (Bowes) Poorman. Bob was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Renovo and worked for the Speno Rail Services and the Pennsylvania Railroad before retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved John Wayne western movies, and spending time with his family. In 1990, Bob was selected Citizen of the Year by the Renovo Rotary Club. He could often be seen out walking his dogs, or taking care of his bird. Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the U.S.S. Holdren. He is survived by three sons: Robert (Kitty) Poorman Jr. and Jack (Gloria) Poorman both of Renovo and Rick (Carman) Poorman of Woodbridge, Va., three daughters: Deb Emel and Carol George both of Renovo and Marcia Scrimshaw of Warren, Michigan. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren, a brother: Fred Poorman of Norfolk, Va. and two sisters: Dorothy Reber of Reading, Pa. and Betty Mingel of Pittsburgh, Pa. and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his wife: Mildred F. Poorman in 1998, a daughter: Sue, grandson: Shawn, three brothers and one sister. A memorial funeral service at Trinity Episcopal Church is being planned for a future date and will be published when scheduled. Memorials are requested to the S.P.C.A., R.D. #2, Lock Haven, Pa. 17745 or Trinity Episcopal Church, Third Street, Renovo, PA. 17764. Maxwell Funeral Home of Renovo is in charge of the arrangements.
