RED LION- Robert C. (Bob) Popp, 88, passed away at Rest Haven in York, Pennsylvania on Friday, May 6, 2016 with his wife and daughter by his side. He was the husband of Agnes (Hughes) Popp of Red Lion, to whom he was married for 62 years. The Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in York on May 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. in Red Lion is in charge of the arrangements. There will be a private burial at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Glastonbury, Connecticut on June 6, 2016. Following the burial, a luncheon for family and friends to remember Bob will be held at 12 noon at the Gallery Restaurant, 141 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury, CT 06033. Bob lived in East Hartford, CT until 2009, when he retired and moved to Pennsylvania to be near family. Born February 21, 1928 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Emma (Dydjuhn) Popp. He was a graduate of the University of Connecticut, and spent his entire career in the automobile business, beginning with the former Dennett and Popp Dodge in East Hartford. He was past president of the Hartford Automobile Dealers Association, a member of the Nayaug Yacht Club and a former member of the East Hartford Rotary Club. His hobbies included boating, fishing and woodworking. Besides his wife, Bob leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and William Reardon of York, Pennsylvania, and grandchildren Kathleen, Lee Ann and William. Bob is also survived by a sister-in-law, Ann Hughes of Essex Junction, Vermont, nephews Timothy and Matthew (Stephanie), niece Sara (Ryan Gates), and 5 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, M. Wade Hughes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carol’s Closet, St. James’ Episcopal Church, 2584 Main Street, Glastonbury, CT 06033.
