Robert C. Laird, Sr.

Windsor - Robert C. Laird, Sr., 79, of Windsor, died, Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Jacqueline M. (Bitts) Laird. A service will be 10 a.m. on Monday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, with a viewing from 9-10 a.m. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Mr. Laird was born in York on April 20, 1928, a son of the late Roscoe C. and Sallie A. (Olewiler) Laird. He retired in 1996 from the House of Windsor in Yoe and drove cars for Tyler Run Auto Sales. In earlier years, he worked for West End Service Station in Red Lion, where the Gear Grinders formed. He was a member of the former Young Handicapped Peoples Club. Mr. Laird leaves a son, Robert C. Laird, Jr. of Windsor, a daughter, Tina Heilman of York, two step-daughters: Beverly Yerger and Jane Buckingham, both of York, five grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, one great grandchild and two on the way, and two sisters: Betty Smith of York and Evelyn Chesner of Tennessee and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Florence Hawkes Krout and Margaret Sentz and two brothers: Sterling and Richard Laird.
