POTTSVILLE- Robert C. Derr, 92, of Pottsville, passed away Tuesday evening at Schuylkill Medical Center, East Norwegian Street, Pottsville. Born in Pottsville on June 14, 1920, he was the son of the late Frederick and Anna Stephany Derr. Bob attended Saint Patrick’s school. He was a member of Saint Patrick’s Church, Pottsville. He was an Army veteran having served during World War II in the Pacific. He served in Okinawa and Northern Honchu, Japan. Bob was a retired metal lather, in the construction field, where he worked his whole life. Bob enjoyed building and flying his own ultra light planes. He loved boating and fishing and traveling to Canada on trips. He was a member of the Auburn Boat Club. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, June Ida Schneider Derr, who passed away November 22, 2007. Bob is survived by his two sons, Robert Derr, husband of Janet, of Pottsville, and Ronald Derr, husband of Harriett, of Orwigsburg; his daughter, Patricia Fekete, with whom he resided in Pottsville; his four grandchildren, Curtis Derr, of Pottsville, Brenda Gardner, wife of James, of Flourtown, PA, Scott Fekete, of Pottsville and Tamara Yoder, of Minersville; his great grandchildren, Lily Grace Gardner, Trent James Gardner and Harper Joan Yoder. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 10:30 A.M. in Our Lady of Calvary Chapel, Hillside, Pottsville. Family and friends may call on Tuesday morning from 9:30 A.M. until time of Mass at the Chapel. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery, at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations can be made to Saint Patrick’s Church Memorial Fund, 319 Mahantongo Street, Pottsville, PA 17901. Online condolences may be sent to bestlifetributes.com.
