RED LION—Robert A. Frutiger, 90, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Hospice & Community Care of Mt. Joy. He was the husband of Christina G. (Gable) Frutiger to whom he was married for 46 years.
Born November 23, 1933 in Fountainville, Pa, he was the son of the late Thomas W. and Anne (Karone) Frutiger.
He was admired by many for being a devoted civil servant and volunteer. He served Red Lion in many different forms and capacities throughout the years including as Mayor, Red Lion Water Authority, Red Lion Zoning Board, and Red Lion Historical Society. He brought people together and was a touchstone in his community and family.
He started his career at the WC Frutiger Cigar Factory, and Caterpillar. Robert then worked at RCA in Lancaster, retiring from RCA after 25 years. His interest in Antiques and Collectables led him to become an auctioneer. In addition, Robert had many hobbies and interests which include antique outboard enthusiast, antique car enthusiast, and antique race car enthusiast. His most beloved hobby was spending time with family and friends at the Bungalow he owned on the Susquehanna River.
A Celebration of Life Tribute will be held in his honor, details forthcoming.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Frutiger is also survived by daughter, Debra Frutiger Kerns and her husband, Edward; son, Gary A. Frutiger and his wife, Beth; five grandchildren, William C. And Olivia C. Frutiger, Jessica A. and Elizabeth A. Gardner, Alexandra C. Primiano and great grandson Jonas; one sister, Beverly Slenker and her husband, Kirk and nephews Zachary, Jason, and Neil Slenker as well as nephew Mark Frutiger and niece Eva Frutiger Johnson. He was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Frutiger and his nephew Christopher Frutiger.
