YORK – Robert A. Estep, 59, passed away unexpectedly at his camp in Potter County on Saturday, November 25, 2017. He was the husband of Kathy L. (Cable) Estep, to whom he was married for 38 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, November 30, 2017 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 839 West Market Street, York with The Rev. Kevin T. Shively officiating. Viewings will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York and from 12:00-1:00 PM Thursday at the Church. Burial will immediately follow at Greenmount Cemetery. Born March 28, 1958 in York, son of the late Garland L. and Mildred M. (Yessler) Estep, he was a 1976 graduate of West York High School and a 1980 graduate of York College of Pennsylvania. Rob was a financial advisor for the past 14 years, most recently with Waddell & Reed. He previously worked at UPS for 27 years. Rob was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Viking Athletic Club, Prince Athletic Assoc. and served as an advisor for the Growth Unlimited Stock Club. Rob was an avid outdoorsman, life member of the NRA and a partner at Crooks Camp in Galeton, Potter County. He was a former thoroughbred racehorse owner, having numerous thoroughbreds that raced at Penn National and other local tracks. Rob was passionate about cooking, enjoyed golfing, and was a Baltimore Ravens fan and lifetime season ticket holder. He loved boating and spending time at his condo in Ocean City, Maryland. In addition to his wife, Rob is survived by a son, Robert J. and wife Tristin Estep of Jefferson City, Missouri; a daughter, Nicole L. and husband Jacob Javitt of York; his grandson and little buddy, Roman Javitt; a sister, Bonnie and husband David Meyers of Dover; nieces and nephews, Bryan and wife Jackie Harman, Lisa and husband David Heist, Philip and wife Patti Estep, Leonard Estep; three sisters-in-law, Connie and husband Skip Clancy, Vicki and husband Mark Stambaugh, and Chris and husband Pete Dantro; a cousin, Lori and husband J.R. Harrison; and numerous additional nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his children’s friends who lovingly referred to him as “Big Rob”. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry R. Estep. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to York Cancer Patient Help Fund, c/o York Health Foundation, 50 N. Duke St., 2nd Floor, York, PA 17401 or to Foundation for the West York Area School District, 2605 W. Market St., York, PA 17404. For donations to the Foundation, please include a letter designating the donation specifically to the John and Donaline Cable Scholarship, a fund started 10 years ago in memory of Rob’s in-laws.
