YORK - Richard W. Potter, 56, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009 at his residence. He was the husband of Kimberly M. (McWilliams) to whom he was married for 12 years. Friends and family are invited to the public viewing that will be held from 4-6:00 PM Monday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. A celebration of life tribute service will immediately follow the viewing at 6:00 PM Monday at the Funeral Chapel with his pastor, The Rev. Cathy E. Boileau officiating. Masonic Rites will be provided by F&AM Zeredetha Lodge 451. Burial will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday in Greenmount Cemetery with Full Military Rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Family and friends are encouraged to meet at the entrance of Greenmount Cemetery at 12:45 PM Tuesday. Born August 6, 1952 in York a son of Charles R. and Ruth D. (Bupp) Potter of York, he was a union electrician for most of his career, but also worked alongside his father and brothers in their residential and industrial electrical business. Rick was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, 229 in York; New Creation Community Church; and was a Master Mason with Free and Accepted Masons, Zeredetha Lodge 451. Rick was active in various community and church events and often volunteered for Helping Hands and provided electrical work as needed. He was a US Marine Corps veteran having served during the Vietnam War. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Potter is survived by a son, Corey S. Potter and wife Jessica Potter of York; five grandchildren, Brianna Potter, Bryce Potter, Alexis Hake, Mark Holcombe, and Blaze Hake; four brothers, Charles Potter and wife Patricia Potter, Dennis Potter, Doug Potter, and Greg Potter and wife Victoria Potter, all of York; two sisters, Gwenn Bloss and husband John Bloss and Debra Kostiha and husband Michael Kostiha all of York; numerous nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a niece, Trina Hall; and a great niece, Cierra Angelica. Memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 2449 S.
