Richard W. Hersh Sr.

YORK - Richard W. Hersh Sr., 91, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at York Hospital. Richard was the husband of the late Delores G. “Jimmy” (Trimmer) Hersh, who passed away on November 19, 2018. A Celebration of Life Tribute service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 5, 2021 at the Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with family officiating. A viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mt. Rose Cemetery. Born in Lineboro, MD on March 23, 1930, Richard was the son of the late Jesse A. and Anne (Cornbower) Hersh. Mr. Hersh was a member at The Church of the Foursquare Gospel. He retired in 1996 after 43 years of service with Lehigh Cement Co. In his spare time, Richard was an avid visitor to his Potter County camp – which he owned for 50 years. Richard loved going for breakfast, loved his grandchildren equally and was a devoted father and grandfather. He will be remembered as a loving caregiver to his wife for the last 23 years of her life. Mr. Hersh is survived by 30 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter; two brothers; and two sisters.
