Richard W. Dick" Otto

Richard W. "Dick" Otto, 88, of Port Carbon, died Saturday evening at the Schuylkill Center, Pottsville. Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Richard B. and Mary E. Ney Otto. He graduated from Pottsville High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II, 83rd Infantry. He worked for the former Ost & Ost, Pottsville, as a buyer. He was a member of United Presbyterian Church, Pottsville, Pottsville and Saint Clair American Legion posts, and the former YMCA, Pottsville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth E. Turner; and a brother, Herbert Otto. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, the former Jeanne Hoak, Pottsville; a niece and caregiver, Susan and her husband, Bradford Hall and their son, Brandon and daughter, Tori, who were honorary grandchildren, Newtown; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at United Presbyterian Church. Friends may call at the church from noon until the time of services. There will be no procession from Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home Inc., Pottsville, to the church. There will be no calling hours Tuesday evening. The family would prefer remembrances be made to United Presbyterian Church, Third and Mahantongo streets, Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment with military honors will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
