Richard W. Conser, Sr.

MILL HALL - Richard W. Conser, Sr., 81, passed away, Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the Gatehouse. He was born May 4, 1930 in Lockport the son of Richard R. and Elizabeth (Knarr) Conser. Richard was married to the former Sonya R. Renzo May 10, 1969. They celebrated 42 years of marriage together. Richard served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked as a National Guard Tech. From April 1, 1954 to May 8, 1985. He served in the National Guard from 1948 to 1950 in the 200th Armored Field Artillery activated in 1950 – 1952. He also served with the Inf. Co. K 38th Inf. Reg. He was a charter member in the 728th Battalion. January 25, 1954 with Hg & Co A. as supply Set & Repair Control Supervisor retiring December 21, 1984. He was a charter member of the Non Commissioned Officers Association. While in the service he received the Korean Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Army Commendation Achievement Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army N.G. Recruiter Badge, General H. Stewart Medal, PA Svc. Ribbon, PA 20 year svc Medal with Silver Star. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Two sons Jeffrey Whitman of Williamsport and Craig Whitman of Beech Creek also four daughters Debra Whitman, Valerie McAndrew and Sally Gee all of Lock Haven and Christy Vinski of Pittsburgh. Seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two sisters Mary McLean of Lock Haven and Doris Swinehart of McElhattan. He was preceded in death by three sisters Alicia, Betty and June and also a Son Richard W. Conser, Jr. The funeral service will be 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with the Rev. Susan Champion officiating. Friends and relatives will be received Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral chapel. Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
