Dover - Richard "Rick" E. Dette, 55, of Dover Twp. died Monday, February 2, 2009 at his residence. He was the husband of Lorraine K. (Edleblute) Dette, to whom he was married for 21 years. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, February 6, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with his brother-in-law, Terry L. Edleblute officiating. Family and friends are invited gather and share memories from 10-11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the request of the family. Mr. Dette was born December 3, 1953 a son of the late Otto Dette and Elsie (Miron) Stayman. He was a 1971 graduate of York Suburban High School. Rick was a former employee of Johnson Control for 12 years until he could no longer work. Mr. Dette was proud to be a U.S. Marine Veteran serving his country during peacetime years. He was a member of Prince Club in York. Rick enjoyed traveling, and taking his chances on slot machines and PA lottery. His grandchildren will always remember the unconditional love that he gave them. In addition to his wife, Mr. Dette is survived by a daughter Kelly Smith and husband Brian of Dover; two grandchildren, Brandon and Olivia Smith of Dover; a brother, Scott Stayman and wife Elizabeth of York; two sisters, Christine J. Kelley of Wrightsville, and Jody Warfel and husband Christian of York; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Autism Society of America, Greater Harrisburg Area Chapter, P.O. Box 101, Enola, PA, 17025.
