Richard R. Hart, Sr.

YORK- Richard R. Hart, Sr., 92, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Mary L. (Tedesco) Hart. The couple would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on December 31, 2014. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 2 PM in the chapel at Greenwood Memorial Park, 104 Melwood Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068, with full military honors provided by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard. Born October 20, 1921 in Natrona Heights, Richard was a son of the late Russell and Pearl (Klingensmith) Hart. He worked for 42 years for Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Brackenridge until his retirement in 1987. Mr. Hart served our country in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Hart was a life member with over 50 years of the American Legion Post 226 in Brackenridge. He was an avid reader of Louis L’amour westerns and loved watching old western movies. He crafted stained glass, designing a lamp for each of his sons. Richard loved Pittsburgh and it’s Steelers and Pirates. He was a sportsman who, at 85, birdied a 185 yard par three hole of golf. He was a kind, good natured man who will be dearly missed by his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hart is survived by three sons, Richard R. Hart, Jr. and his wife Denise of York, Ronald F. Hart and his fiancé Maribeth of Cheswick and Randal R. Hart and his wife Amy of Allenwood, PA; a daughter, Deborah J. Cardamone and her husband Thomas of Pittsburgh; two granddaughters, Brittany M. Hamilton and her husband Jeremy and Kaylynn R. Hart; two great grandchildren, Julian Cardamone and Hailey Hamilton; a brother, Edward Hart of Circleville, OH; a sister, Mildred Justice of Boardman, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Marla Cardamone; a brother, Melvin Hart, and three sisters, Virginia Hank, Grace Hart and Anna Bonefield. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
