YORK- Richard R. “Dick” Frantz, 92, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Broadmore Senior Living in York. He was the husband of Caroline R. (Ruppert) Frantz to whom he was married 67 years. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Christ United Methodist Church, 200 N. Main St., Jacobus, with his Pastor, The Reverend Randy Hughes officiating. A viewing will be held from 6-8 PM on Monday, June 1, 2015 and from 9-10 AM on Tuesday prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, June 2 at Salem Union Cemetery in Dover with full military honors provided by the York County Veteran's Honor Guard. Born April 4, 1923 in Dover, Richard was a son of the late Raymond and Minnie (Snellbaker) Frantz. Dick worked for over 40 years as a self employed plumber. He then went on to work as plumbing inspector for Springfield Township. Dick also served as the Jacobus Fire Chief for over 20 years. Richard found great fulfillment in his working life. He also enjoyed the outdoors and working around the house, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Mr. Frantz served our country in the United States Army during World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He also served on the York County Veteran’s Honor Guard for over 20 years. Richard was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Shrewsbury Masonic Lodge #423, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, the HBG Consistory Scottish Rite, the York County Shrine Club, a lifetime member of the Dallastown American Legion #605, a lifetime member of the VFW of West York #8951, a lifetime member of the Western York County Democratic Club, a lifetime member of Goodwill Fire Company #18 of Jacobus, a lifetime member of the Tribute National World War II Memorial, a lifetime member of Disabled Veterans of America, and was the recipient of the York County Honor Guard Outstanding Service Award and Appreciation for Meritorious Service in support of the York County Community on behalf of all veterans. Along with his wife Caroline, Mr. Frantz is survived by a daughter, Deborah J. Smith and her husband Lyn of Jacobus; two grandchildren, Melissa Beard and her husband James of York, and Craig Smith and his wife Anna of Jacobus; two great grandchildren, Emily Beard of York, and Casara Smith of Jacobus; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Frantz and Kenneth Frantz, and a sister, Edna Mae Rosensweig. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Community Care, 224 St. Charles Way, York, PA 17402 or to Christ United Methodist Church, 200 North Main St., Jacobus, PA 17407. The family would like to thank Broadmore Senior Living, the women of Hospice & Community Care, and Dr. Eamonn Boyle, Dr. Richard Kurz and Dr. Susan Kurz, for the care and compassion they showed Richard during his illness. The family would also like to thank family, friends and neighbors for their visits, meals, cards, phone calls and prayers.
