Brogue—Richard L. “Dick” Runkle, 67, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019 at his residence in Chanceford Twp. A Celebration of Life Service will be private at the convenience of the family. Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born February 6, 1951 in New Bridgeville, he was a son of Gerald R. Runkle and his wife Ginny of Manchester and the late Eva M. (Cooper) Smith. He spent his career as an auto mechanic working for various area garages and last 20 years he owned Runkle’s Repair in Collinsville until retirement in 2013. A United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, he was also a member of the Red Lion American Legion and the Red Lion VFW. He was an avid hunter and fishermen, former member of Blue Grass Boys Hunting Camp—Potter County and a member of the Southern York EMS Assoc. Mr. Runkle is also survived by two brothers, Thomas L. Runkle and wife, Judy of Ft. Myers Beach, FL and Scott G. Runkle and wife, Teresa of Milford, DE; two step brothers, Keith Gladfelter and wife, Jackie of Melbourne, FL and Cameron Gladfelter of Dover and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda Sue Runkle who passed away in 2003.
