Richard L. Hersey

RED LION - Richard L. Hersey, 93, died on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at his residence. He was the husband of Betty J. (Miller) Hersey, to whom he was married for 72 years. Born on August 5, 1921 in Stewartstown, he was a son of the late Roland and Margaret (Hammond) Hersey. Richard was an engineer for Flinchbaugh Products, Inc. for 26 years until his retirement in 1999. Throughout his career, he enjoyed traveling the world. Mr. Hersey was “Mr. Fix It”. He built and expanded the family’s last four homes. He enjoyed gardening, birds, crossword puzzles and loved to camp and surf fish. Richard had a great sense of humor. Along with his wife, Betty, Richard is survived by one son, Phil A. Hersey and his wife, Cindy of Red Lion; one grandson, Richard A. Hersey and his wife, Wendy of Red Lion; two great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren; Lynda Wilt of Red Lion who was “like a daughter”; a foster sister, Olive Williamson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
