Richard L. French

York—Richard L. French, 76, passed away September 3, 2017 at Hospice & Community Care—Mt. Joy. He was the husband of Beverly I. (Schmidt) French to whom he was married for 21 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2PM, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Mountain Grove Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 170 Andersontown Rd, Dover with his pastor, the Rev. Osmany Espinosa. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements. Born July 2, 1941 in Elmira, New York, he was a son of the late Arthur and Lucille French. He was employed as a truck driver with Yellow Roadway for 24 years until his retirement in 2008. A member of Mountain Grove Chapel, he also served in the Army National Guard for 7 years and was a member of the Shiloh American Legion. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, riding his ATV and was a member of the York Rifle Assoc and the W. Manchester Sportsman’s Club. In addition to his wife, Mr. French is also survived by two daughters, Darlene French of North Carolina and Rhonda Murnane of Lancaster; three sons, Shane French and his wife, Deb of Sparrow Bush, NY, Rick French and his wife, Melanie of Avon, NY and Patrick Murnane of Lancaster; two step sons, David Kanya and his wife, Essence of Sarvas and Brian Kanya and his wife, Tammy of Cortland, OH; 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Derrick French.
