Richard J. Tice Age 72 of Brookfield, CT formerly of Chemung, NY passed away Tuesday November 26, 2013 at Danbury Hospital, Danbury, CT following a brief illness. Richard was born September 12, 1941 in Elmira, NY son of the late Bernard and Alice (Owen) Tice. He was a graduate of Waverly High School Class of 1959. Richard served his country with the US Air Force from 1961 to 1965. He retired from Sperry Rail Service in 2001. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to hunt and fish. His other passion was golf; he was one of the longest members at the Sunset Hill Golf Club in Brookfield, CT and a past member of Tomasso’s Golf Club. He also enjoyed his membership with the VFW, American Legion and the Ridgebury Sportsman Club. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle (Aaron) Lopreste of Flowery Branch, GA a son, Douglas J. Tice of Brookfield, CT, three loving grandchildren, Brianna, Kelsey & Joseph Lopreste, a sister and brother in law, Donna (Robert) Nocchi of South Waverly, PA, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Friends are invited to a memorial gathering honoring Richards’s life that will be held Saturday December 21, 2013 from 2:00pm-4:00pm Tomasso’s Golf Club, Chemung, NY. Richard was predeceased by his parents and a sister Katherine Tice. Memorials in Richard’s memory may be made to the Chemung Volunteer Fire Department, 679 Main Street, Chemung, NY 14825. Interment will be in the spring in Hanlon Hill Cemetery, Ridgebury, PA. Arrangements are under the direction of the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY. 14894.
