Dallastown - Richard James Corcoran, 74, of Dallastown, passed away on January 21, 2018 peacefully in his sleep. A visitation, beginning at 9:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 AM will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. John Episcopal Church, 140 N. Beaver St. York. A luncheon will immediately follow the service. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Richard was born in Albany, New York on January 27, 1943. He grew up in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from Thomas Edison High School. He continued on to receive his Bachelor’s of Science of Engineering from the University of Texas and a Master’s of Science in Engineering from Penn State University. Richard was married to Marlene Lucinda (Herbert) on June 13, 1970 and was happily married for 47 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping near Lake Raystown with his loving wife. He was a devoted father and grandfather who treasured time with his family. He loved being outside, working in the yard and fixing things. Richard worked as a Mechanical Engineer at York International, J Hilbert Anderson, Inc., Precision Components and was a County Engineer for York County before retiring from FES/GIA in 2004. Richard assisted in the design of the first Geothermal Power Plant in the United States and was involved in the installation of the refrigeration and air conditioning systems in the first World Trade Centers in New York City. He was a member of the Society of Mechanical Engineers and served on the property committee of St John Episcopal Church. Richard is survived by his wife, Marlene (Herbert) Corcoran, his two children, R. Scott Corcoran and his wife Diane, and Lucinda (Corcoran) Stocks and her husband Philip; his four grandchildren, Haley, Taylor, Olivia and Colin; his nieces and nephews and the rest of his loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Jacqueline Aumann. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. John Episcopal Church, 140 N. Beaver St. York, PA 17401 or the Bob Fryer & Family Inpatient Center, Hospice & Community Care, 4075 Old Harrisburg Pike, Mt. Joy PA 17552. Richard’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Bob Fryer & Family Inpatient Center for their support and care.
