Richard Eugene Thompson

Richard Eugene Thompson, 67, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Darlene I. (Shanbarger) Thompson to whom he was married for 47 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 27, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2100 Hollywood Drive, York with Bishop Richard Miles officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:30-11:00 AM Thursday at the church building. Burial will be in Guinston United Presbyterian Cemetery. Born May 30, 1949 in Chanceford Twp., a son of the late William Alexander and Alverta Mae (Shaeffer) Thompson, he attended Vo-Tech of York and was a 1967 graduate of Red Lion Area High School. Mr. Thompson was a Journeyman Electrician retiring in 2015 from I.E.T.C. of York. Richard was a former First Aid Responder with the then Red Lion/Brogue Ambulance and taught First Aid, CPR and was an EMT. He enjoyed sharing his passion of fishing and hunting and particularly his love of hunting in the western US. In addition to his wife, Mr. Thompson is survived by two sons, Matthew W. and wife Karen Thompson of Twin Falls, ID and Benjamin R. and wife Julie Thompson of Rapid City, SD; a daughter, Wendy D. and husband Neil Erdenbrack of York; 10 grandchildren, Caleb, Gabrielle, Laurel, Clara, Heath, Hunter, Kaitlyn, Vonn, Ada, and Garon; two brothers, William and wife Barbara Thompson and Robert and wife Connie Thompson both of Brogue; and three sisters, Shirley Gardner of Red Lion, Mae Ellen and husband Clif Baldwin and Rose and husband Greg Taylor both of Brogue.
