WILLIAMSPORT - Richard E. Berninger, 73, died Thursday, January 25, 2007 at the Millvale Health Center. He was the loving husband of Virginia A. (Lose) Berninger. Born March 30, 1933, in Williamsport, a son of the late Marion K. and Esther (Hagenberger) Berninger. He was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was employed for over 25 years with Brodart Books as a printer until he retired in 2001. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading but his real joy was spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, Virginia, he is survived by six sons, Richard E. Berninger of MO, Anthony M. Berninger of Williamsport, Steven D. and his wife, Lori Berninger of Aleutian Islands, James S. and his wife, Kristina Berninger of Highspire, Matthew P.K. and his wife, Tammy Berninger of Jersey Shore and Andrew L. and wife, Betsy Berninger of Loganton; two daughters, Sherie D. Berninger of Williamsport and Michelle L. Berninger of Williamsport; 14 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Berninger of NY, and Glen Berninger of TX; and a sister, Betty and her husband, Chuck Hakes of Trout Run, Richard is preceded by a son, Mark E. Berninger (1998) and a granddaughter, Jessica Berninger (1990). A memorial service will be announced at the convenience of the family. Allen and Redmond Funeral Home, Inc., 331 Elmira St., Williamsport is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Enterprises, Inc., P.O. Box 18377, Williamsport, PA 17701 or Lycoming Animal Protection Society, Inc., 3510 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
