Richard E. Robertson

YORK Richard E. Robertson, 78, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 13, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Grace E. (Gladfelter) Robertson. A Celebration of his Life will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, at Faith United Church of Christ, 509 Pacific Avenue, York, a visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the church. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, is in charge of arrangements. Born July 28, 1929, he was the son of the late Milford and Margretta (Frick) Robertson of York. Richard graduated from William Penn High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the UAW and retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. after 24 ½ years of service as a Quality Inspector. Since retirement, he was an active member of the Golden Nuggets where he served as the organizations president for four years. Richard was a member of Faith United Church of Christ, York. He was also a member of the Vikings Athletic Association and the American Legion. Richard is also survived by his two daughters, Jennifer E. Smyser and her husband Benjamin A. Smyser of Dover; and Bonnie L. Flaharty of York; his grandson, Brady L. Flaharty and great-grandsons Bryan and Michael Flaharty; his two brothers, James Robertson and his wife Virginia of York, and Charles Robertson of York. He was preceded in death by three of his brothers, Milford Robertson, Wilbur Robertson and John Tweed Robertson. He will be remembered for his integrity, loyalty, and his loving and gentle demeanor to all who knew him.
