YORK--Richard E. Lycette, 70, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center in Lebanon, Pa. He was the husband of Margaret “Peggy” A. (Dietz) Lycette. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 18, at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, Pa., with his pastor, Rev. Sal Buonocore officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Full military detail will be provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born Oct. 24, 1945, in Houlton, Maine, Richard was a son of the late Leland and Bessie (Litchfield) Lycette. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1964-1968 aboard the U.S.S. Truxtun. Following his service in the Navy, Richard received a bachelor's degree from Ricker College in Houlton and a master’s degree in business administration from Providence College in Providence, R.I. Richard began his professional career after college working for Campbell's Soup Co. Later in his career, he worked as director of quality assurance for Newbridge Networks in Herndon, Va., and Sorrento Networks in San Diego, Calif. Richard retired in 2004. He was a member of Dover Bethany United Methodist Church in Dover, Pa. Richard enjoyed music and loved to sing in the choir. His hobbies included gardening, golfing and home renovation. In addition to his wife, Peggy, Richard is survived by a son, William D. Lycette and his husband Christopher H. Delporte of Silver Spring, Md.; daughter Kimberly M. Lycette of Laurel, Md.; cousin David Lycette and wife Twila of Lisbon, Maine; and an extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother, Elliot Lycette. Memorial contributions may be made to Eagle Heights Hospice at the Lebanon VA Medical Center, 1700 South Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, Pa., 17042, or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at www.lbda.org.
