Etters — Richard E. Fink, Sr., 83, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at his residence in Newberry Township surrounded by his family and friends. He was the husband of Jean E. (Wert) Fink to whom he was married for 65 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 AM, Tuesday, February 23, 2016 Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with the Rev. James E. Winter officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Suburban Memorial Gardens. Born May 26, 1932 in Conewago Township, he was a son of the late Bernard H. Fink, Sr., and Mabel A. (Trimble) Fink. He was the owner and founder of R.E. Fink and Sons, a full service septic tank company he started in 1955. Before starting his own business he was employed with Pennsy Supply in the 1940’s and later as a deep sea diver in the 1950’s. A long time member of the Wago Club in Mt. Wolf, he was also a member of the Etters VFW—Post 537 and the New Cumberland American Legion—Post 974. For several years he owned race horses and sponsored local race car drivers. In addition to his wife, Mr. Fink is also survived by six children, Richard E. Fink, Jr., Beverly J. Wharton and her husband, Steve, Brandt F. Fink, Sr., and his wife, Deanna, Lucinda R. Smiley, Douglas A. Fink and his wife, Donna and Lois A. Summey and her husband, Mark Thompson; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; two brothers, Glenn and John Fink; two sisters, Rebecca Dively and Kathleen Richcreek; nieces, nephews and many good friends. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Julianna A. Bower; two brothers, Bernard Fink, Jr., and Kenneth Fink and one sister, Deltha Mae Dively. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Etters VFW—Post 537, 1095 Pines Rd, Etters, Pa 17319.
