YORK- Richard E. Dennis, 74, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015 at his home. He was the husband of AnnaMae (Hartman) Dennis, to whom he was married 54 years. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with Pastor Franklin Miller and Pastor Wetzel Robinson officiating. A viewing will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Born March 9, 1941 in York, Richard was a son of the late Woodrow and Violet (Moul) Dennis. He worked as a foreman for Keystone Weaving Mills, Inc. He started working there at the age of 16 until he retired in 2008. Mr. Dennis was a member of Pleasureville United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the York Boy’s Club, the Viking Athletic Association and the Hawk Gunning Club. He was happiest to be at home working in the yard and flower beds. In addition to his wife, AnnaMae, Mr. Dennis is survived by a son, Rod Dennis of York; a daughter, Kathy Schaeffer and her husband Craig of Mt. Wolf; three grandchildren, Craig Schaeffer, Jr., Ryan E. Schaeffer and Max Dennis; two great grandchildren, Cayden Dennis and Owen Dennis; a brother, Jeff Dennis and his wife June of Shiloh, and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother, Barry Dennis. Memorial contributions may be made to the York County SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406 or to Pleasureville United Methodist Church, 2606 N. Sherman St., York, PA 17406.
