Richard E. Bachtell, Jr.

YORK- Richard E. Bachtell, Jr., 84, died on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Charlotte I. (Druck) Bachtell to whom he was married for 64 years. Services for Mr. Bachtell are private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Born on November 26, 1933 in York, he was a son of the late Richard E. and Corrine V. (Martin) Bachtell. Richard was a Facilities Planning Engineer for Dupont from 1973 until his retirement in 1991. Mr. Bachtell served our country for three years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Bachtell enjoyed collecting clocks, cruises, traveling to every U.S. state besides Alaska and Hawaii and also traveling the world with his wife. Along with his wife, Charlotte, Richard leaves two daughters, Virginia M. Blakemore of Massanutten, VA and Sandra R. Yancey and husband, Robert of Red Lion; one granddaughter, Nichole Warman and husband, Nicholas of York; and one great granddaughter, Liliana Warman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 2449 S. Queen St., York, PA 17402 or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
