TROY- On Thursday, December 26, 2013 after a life well lived Richard De Finis, 77, of East Smithfield, PA passed away at the Robert Packer Hospital surrounded by his family and loving wife Susanne (Kedrowitsch) De Finis. The couple recently celebrated 32 years of marriage on October 3, 2013. Rich was born on August 21, 1936 in Orange, NJ, the son of the late Charles and Rose (LaSapio) De Finis. He was a US Army veteran and after honorable discharge became a Master Plumber for the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union Local #24 in Lodi, NJ. He enjoyed golf, gardening, and was a loyal New York Giants Fan and above everything else Rich was a family man and enjoyed nothing better than spending time with his wife and family. Rich is survived by his wife Susanne, his seven children; Rose Marie De Finis of Pottstown, PA, Richard “Rick” De Finis, Jr. of New Jersey, Anthony C. (Jill) De Finis of Mt. Pocono, PA, Alexander L. De Finis of Sayre PA, Sherri (Jim) Paul, of Sayre, PA, Michael C. (Eileen) De Finis of East Smithfield, PA, and Matthew R. (Mindy) De Finis of Ulster, PA. Also his grandchildren; Dieter Richard Kedrowitsch, Alexander Lee (Melissa) Kedrowitsch, Christina Nestler, Michael Anthony De Finis, Nicholas Elliott De Finis, Alexandra Maureen De Finis, Aiden James Paul, Natalee Jane De Finis, Rocco James De Finis, and Emma Lynn Paul and his great granddaughters; Alexis Kedrowitsch and Sophia Nestler. One of six children Richard is also survived his brother Fred (Patricia) DeFinis, his sisters, Barbara (Joseph) Phelan and Brenda (Gary) Francois along with many nieces and nephews, and his favorite 1971 Chevy pick-up truck Brutus. Rich was preceded in death by his parents' Charlie and Rose De Finis, and his brothers Robert and Carl De Finis. Family and friends are welcome to call from 2:00-4:00 pm on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Gerald W. Vickery Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street Troy, PA. The celebration of Rich’s life will be held following the viewing at 4:00 pm on January 4th at the funeral home with military rites given by the Troy Veterans Honor Guard. Special thanks from the family goes out to the Cardiology Team and Neurology Team at Robert Packer Hospital, the staff of 6NW, 2nd floor ICU, 5Main and the many wonderful and caring doctors, nurses and staff that cared for Rich over the years. He was always made to feel like family and the loving care and support that was shown to him and his family will always be remembered. Contributions may be made in Rich’s memory to the American Heart Association, 1948 East Third Street Williamsport, PA 17701 for further research into heart disease.
