Richard Dale Benner

SEVEN VALLEYS- Richard D. Benner, 75, died at his home in Seven Valleys, PA, on November 19, 2012, after a brief battle with cancer. He was the husband of Marie B. (Zeller) Benner. The couple wed on July 11, 1959. Services for Mr. Benner are private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Benner was born on June 18, 1937, in Decatur, Illinois, a son of the late Percy C. and Dorothy J. (Miller) Benner. He served in the U.S. Naval Airship Service as a radar operator. After being honorably discharged, he went to work for Ciba Chemical, in Toms River, NJ, which he retired from after 30 years of service. Along with his beloved wife of 53 years, Marie Benner, Richard is survived by a brother, John Benner, of Peru, Illinois; a sister, Jana Hoffman, of Voorhees, NJ; a sister, Beth Davis, of Colorado Springs, CO; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Rebecca Benner, of Alexandria, VA; a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Peter Renzulli, of Seven Valleys, PA; four grandchildren (Sara, Lindsey, Matthew, and Maxwell); and several nieces; nephews; brothers-in-law; and sisters-in-law. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the York County SPCA, 3159 N Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
