YORK- Richard D. Naylor, 74, of York passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Glenda (Conley) Naylor. Together they shared over 52 years of marriage. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Disney World. Born in York on November 29, 1947, he was a son of the late Lester and Althea (Dimelow) Naylor. He was a graduate of York Suburban and Millersville University. He attended Church of the Open Door. Mr. Naylor was a secondary math teacher at West York Junior High for 32 years where he also coached track and girls’ basketball. After retirement, he used his gift of teaching in the church where he led many classes, including Discipleship Essentials at LWCC. Richard traveled to India, Ethiopia and Guatemala for mission work. He also humbly served on various missionary boards including Ethiopian Outreach Ministry and Friends of PAAV. Richard enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing and reading. He always looked forward to a week in OCNJ with his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and family. In addition to his loving wife, Glenda, Richard is survived by his sons, Scott Naylor and wife, Michelle and Joshua Naylor and his wife, Becky all of York; five grandchildren, Adam, Kaitlyn, Caleb, Ryan and Daniel; and brother, Thomas Naylor of York. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Church of the Open Door, 8 Carlisle Ct., York with Pastor Steve Almquist and Pastor Don Heindel officiating. A viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Private burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Open Door Global Outreach Fund, 8 Carlisle Ct., York, PA 17404 or Living Word Community Church Global Missions Fund, 2530 Cape Horn Rd., Red Lion, PA 17356.
