Springettsbury Township- Richard C. Strickhouser, 89, of York, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Autumn House- East in York. He was the husband of Lorraine K. (Frey) Strickhouser. The couple celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on June 14, 2012. A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, with a visitation from 1-2 p.m. The Reverend Forrest 'Bud' Bish will be officiating at the service. Mr. Strickhouser was born in York on January 15, 1924, the son of the late Charles L. and Hettie M. (Smith) Strickhouser. He retired from the US Postal Service in 1980, where he was a letter carrier. Mr. Strickhouser was a member of Yorkshire United Methodist Church. He was a life member of VFW post 7045, a former Assistant Chief and Treasurer of Springettsbury Fire Company in York and Goodwill Fire Company in York, and a member of National Letter Carriers Association, and AARP. He was a 1942 Graduate of William Penn Senior High. He served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War. Mr. Strickhouser leaves two sons, Steven R. Strickhouser and his wife Vickie of York, and Terry L. Strickhouser and his wife Rosa of Daytona Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Jason, Erik, Alberto and Angelina Strickhouser, and Maria Conley;five great grandsons,and a brother Ronald Strickhouser of Dunedin, FL. Memorial contributions may be made to Yorkshire United Methodist Church, 125 Edgewood Rd., York, PA 17402.
