RED LION - Richard C. Runkle, 82, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2012 at his residence. He was the husband of Nancy J. (Snyder) Runkle. The couple wed on November 17, 1956. A celebration of life tribute service will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl. Red Lion with the Reverend Patricia Mullen and the Reverend Laura Baer officiating. A viewing will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Blymire’s U.C.C. Cemetery. Mr. Runkle was born on August 14, 1929 in Felton, a son of the late Eli and Minnie (Flinchbaugh) Runkle. Richard was a 1948 graduate of Red Lion High School. He worked as an Industrial Engineer for AMP, Inc. until his retirement in 1996. Mr. Runkle was a member of St. Paul’s U.C.C in Dallastown. He was a member of the Foreman’s Club. He enjoyed walking with his wife and gardening. Richard was an avid Penn State, Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Orioles fan. Along with his wife, Nancy, Richard is survived by a son, Joe Runkle and his wife, Robin of Lititz; two daughters, Deb Runkle of Manchester and Bonnie Winn and her husband, Steve of Red Lion; a grandson, John Winn; a brother, Ed Runkle of Felton; two sisters, Janet Gladfelter of Felton and Alice Royer of Dallastown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
