ATHENS- Richard A. Patton, 74, of Athens, PA passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Robert Packer Hospital. Dick was the husband of Marlene K. (Bodine) Patton. The couple married June 6, 1986 and had 23 happy years together. Family and friends are welcome to gather at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the Burlington United Methodist Church, on the Berwick Turnpike in Burlington, PA, with Rev. William Lusk officiating. Burial will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park with military rites given by the Troy Veterans Honor Guard. The Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY has been entrusted with the arrangements. Dick was born on December 12, 1935 in Noxen, PA, son of the late James C. and Saloma (Hackling) Patton, Sr. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a farmer and also worked for Lewis Transportation until he retired. Dick was a member of the Burlington United Methodist Church and also the Troy American Legion Post #49. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. Dick is survived by his wife Marlene, his sons: Charles J. Patton of Cocoa, Fl, Thomas (Dixie) Womer of Sayre, PA, Urban (Heidi) Womer of Skanatelas, NY, and Raymond (Debra) Covey of Lawrenceville, PA, his daughters: Karen J. (Wayne) Potts of Port St. Lucie, FL, Victoria (Thomas) Henry of Gillett, PA, Tina (Gerald) Mullen of Gillett, PA, Charise Vargo of Painted Post, NY, and Bonnie Stevens of Torrance, CA, 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, his brothers James C. Patton, Jr. of Towanda, PA and William E. (Elsa) Patton of Kingman, AZ. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and is two sons; Carl W. Patton and Kevin A. Patton. Memorial contributions may be made in Dick's memory to the Burlington United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 162, Burlington, PA 18814 or to the American Cancer Society, 1948 East Third St. Williamsport, PA 17701.
