HELLAM - Richard A. ‘Dick‘ Koster, 81, died peacefully Sunday, July 8, 2007, at home. He was the husband of Barbara (Bunnell) Koster, who died February 19, 2007. Mr. Koster worked for AMF and later retired from United Defense. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a staff sergeant in the 104th Timberwolf Infantry Division, Company A, 415th Regiment. He received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star Medal during his tour in the European Theater. Born July 17, 1925, in Peterson, N.J., he was the son of the late Ernest and Mildred Koster. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, and spending time with his family. He was especially proud of his Great Danes and his Day Lily collection. Mr. Koster is survived by a son, Richard I. Koster and his wife, Holly of Dover; three daughters, Joan D. Roth of Durango, Colo., Phyllis I. Koster and her husband, Robert Oughton of Hellam, and Lynn A. Koster of York; six grandchildren, Taylor, Lauren, Jessica, Kristina, Greg, and Gage; a sister, Norma Bunnell of Blacksburg, Va.; and three nieces, Jeannie, Valerie, Amy, and there families. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is in charge of arrangements. After cremation, a private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
