Retired Chief Master Sergeant Henry J. Lynn, Jr.

WILKES-BARRE-Retired Chief Master Sergeant Henry J. Lynn, Jr., USAF, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Hospice Care of the VNA, Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wilkes-Barre on February 3, 1940, he was a son of the late Henry and Alice (Dowling) Lynn. He was a graduate of Elmer L. Meyers High School and several colleges and academies. He was a 30-year veteran of the United States Air Force, having achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He retired in May 1989 from Barksdale Arizona Air Force Base-Louisiana as the Superintendent of Nursing Services at Barksdale Air Force Base Hospital. After retiring from the Air Force, he was employed by Dallas Family Practice for 10 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick Lynn. Surviving is his wife of 48 years, the former Maureen T. Kenney; sons Navy Commander Michael Patrick Lynn and his wife, Shawn of Temecula, CA; John Joseph Lynn of Wilkes-Barre; special Goddaughter, Lisa Mirarchi; grandchildren Airman Brian Lynn, David Lynn, Ashley Pease and her husband, Travis; great-granddaughter Riley Pease; sisters Marilynn Stilp, Wilkes-Barre and Suzanne Lynn, Kingston; and nephew, Retired Chief Master Sergeant Kevin Lynn, USAF. A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, April 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Therese's Church, 25 Old River Road, Wilkes-Barre. Monsignor Francis J. Callahan will officiate. Friends may call Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA, with full military honors on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, is in charge of arrangements.
