Rebecca J. (Myers) Warner

Rebecca J. Warner of Dover passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the York Hospital. Born in York, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Mary Virginia (Runyan) Myers and Dennis Leroy Myers. Rebecca lived a life devoted to family and friends. She was a caring wife and loving mother, a generous sister and thoughtful aunt, a kind colleague, a compassionate caregiver to both her parents, an adventurous, fun-loving companion, and a good-hearted friend. Rebecca loved life in a way that was inspiring to everyone around her. She was a serious bicycle rider, having easily explored the Rail Trail from downtown York to the Maryland line and back. She was an avid supporter of her kids’ athletic and artistic pursuits, attending too many basketball games and concerts to count. Having dinner in Manhattan or Philadelphia, taking in a baseball game at Yankee Stadium, or just having a quiet night on the deck were all her ways of living life to its fullest. Since graduating from Dallastown High School, she was employed by York Hospital in the medical records department, where she built lifelong friendships and a reputation for thoroughness and patience. Rebecca is survived by her husband of thirty years John Warner; her three children, Chad Smyser and his partner Thomas Benedict, Joshua Warner and Krista Warner; her two brothers, Stuart Myers and his wife Margaret, and Scott Myers and his wife Marisa. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, with The Reverend Jim Polanzke of Christ Lutheran Church of Spry, officiating. A visitation will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia or take a ride on the Rail Trail and think of Becky.
