Raymond S. Snyder, Sr.

Life long Milton resident Raymond S. Snyder, Sr., of Milton, passed away Nov. 20, 2011 at Kramm Health & Rehab Center, Milton. He was born in Milton on April 5, 1918, a son of the late John and Geraldine (Berkheimer) Snyder. Raymond married the former Mary Mench, of Mifflinburg on April 19, 1938. He was a 1937 graduate of Milton High School and retired from Shipper’s Carline in 1981 after working there for 28 years. Raymond was a lifetime member of Turbot Township Fire Co., and belonged to the American Legion, Milton and the Loyal Order of Moose, Milton. Raymond also served in the United States Army in 1945. He was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Raymond loved collecting things like stamps, coins and postcards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jean, in 1945 and a brother, Donald Snyder, of Washington in 2001. Surviving Raymond is his wife, Mary (Mench) Snyder; daughter, Ruth Bloomer and husband, Kenneth, Allenwood; sons, Raymond Snyder Jr. and wife, Patsy, Oklahoma City, Harold Snyder and wife, Gladys, Watsontown, Carl Snyder and wife, Judith, Milton, and Edwin Snyder and wife, Cathy, Watsontown; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother, James Snyder, CA; and sisters, Beatrice Delozier, Zelienople, Charlotte Hufnagle, Lewisburg and Helen Coffel, Washington. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, Inc., Milton. A service for Raymond will be held Friday, Nov. 25 at 10 am from the funeral home. Reverend Dale Hippensteel will be officiating. Family and friends may call from 9-10am. Interment will follow at Harmony Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Capital Improvement Fund of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church.
