Raymond 'Rainbo' Eugene Pharis, Jr.

RENOVO - Raymond "Rainbo" Eugene Pharis, Jr., 54, of Tamarack, died suddenly Friday, December 3, 2010 in his home. Rainbo was born on July 8th, 1956 at the Renovo Hospital to the late Raymond and Arlene Sensing Pharis Sr. He spent his childhood in Smokey Hollow with his older sister, Sharon and family. Rainbo was a 1974 graduate of Bucktail Area HS and excelled in the VoTech program in Williamsport. He enjoyed mechanics and working with his hands. After school, he worked for Piper Air Craft in South Renovo. In 1977, Rainbo met the lovely Ann Marie Hayes and marries her on July 8th, 1978 at Sunset Memorial Church in Tamarack. Soon after, the two open Rainbo's Garage and begin to service the community with their small general store and car repair garage. Rainbo and Ann celebrated life with two daughters, Deanna Marie and Elizabeth Arlene. Rainbo was an officer with Kettle Creek Hose Company and a member of the Tamarack Grange, F.A.M. Lodge #495 and Sunset Memorial Church. He enjoyed helping others in the community by plowing snow and always being available to help in any situation. Rainbo loved playing Euchre, mini golf, horseshoes, billards, Trouble, Yahtzee, and gambling at the casino but nothing was better at the end of the night then reading the paper and reclining in his Lazy Boy. In addition to owning the garage, Rainbo drove school bus for Keystone Central and then also adult transportation for STEP in Williamsport. Rainbo was known for his quiet demeanor and tremendous patience. He was loved and respected by the community and his family. Rainbo is survived by his wife Ann and daughters, Deanna (Peter) Vinch and Elizabeth Pharis of Arlington, Virginia and also, sister Sharon Pharis-Brink (Jim Younger) of Montgomery, PA The funeral service will be held at Noon on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Church, Tamarack with the Rev. Mahlon Nevel officiating. Friends and relatives will be received at the church one hour prior to the service. A Masonic service will be held prior to the service. Interment will be at New Maple Grove Cemetery, Leidy Twp. Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo has charge of arrangements.
