WELLSVILLE – Raymond P. Miller, Jr., 90, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Paula J. (Brodbeck) Miller to whom he was married for 37 years.
Born November 4, 1934 on the family farm in Codorus Township, he was the son of the late Raymond Adam and Leona M. (Amspacher) Miller. Raymond attended Krebs, a one room school house for nine years. He then attended Glenville High School for two years, later graduating from Susquehannock High School in 1953. He was a member of the Future Farmers of America while he was in school. For most of his life, Raymond worked at AMP, where he later retired in 1996. He was also a prominent farmer, farming for himself, his father, and several others over the years. Beyond growing grain, he raised livestock including beef and dairy cattle, chickens, and rabbits. Outside of working on the farm, he would show his Yorkshire pigs at the York Fair. In his free time, he enjoyed word finds, hunting, fishing, setting up model trains for detailed Christmas displays, and reading the Lancaster Farmer newspaper.
In addition to his beloved wife Paula, he is survived by his children, Steven Miller and his wife Miriam, Tanya Shoff and her husband Larry, Heather Feathers and her husband Rick, and Chad Lighty; grandchildren, Stevie Miller and his wife Shannon, Davey Miller and his wife Jen, Caleb Lighty, and Abby Feathers; two-great grandchildren, Gavin Miller and Lincoln Miller; two sisters, Amelia Dell and Linda Williams; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his step-mother, Mary Ellen (Landis) Miller and two brothers-in-law, Herb Dell and Paul Williams.
Services will be private at the family’s convenience. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is assisting the family with arrangements.
